Lyoto Machida is the current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, and remains undefeated. He defeated the previously undefeated Rashad Evans on May 23, 2009, to capture the belt. He also holds notable victories over Thiago Silva, Tito Ortiz, Rich Franklin, B.J. Penn, Sokoudjou and Stephan Bonnar, as well as a controversial unanimous decision victory over Mauricio "Shogun" Rua during his first UFC light heavyweight championship title defense.
