Tito Ortiz still battling with the UFC
Tito Ortiz still battling with the UFCIn what seems to be an ongoing battle between Tito Ortiz and the UFC, Ortiz had recently made a claim that the UFC had denied his medical insurance claim to have back surgery for injuries that he stated came during the process of competing in the Octagon. “They [the UFC] now have stooped so low as to not give me the medical care I so desperately needed.” Ortiz claims.

The UFC deemed it relevant to respond to Ortiz’ claim publicly stating, “The UFC does not have the authority to deny or approve any insurance claims asserted by UFC athletes.”

Zuffa, LLC.’s response to Ortiz’ claim seems fairly straightforward. Companies do not have the right to deny a medical insurance claims. Organizations purchase medical insurance from health care providers and the all claims are handled through the medical insurance.

“The decision regarding whether a filed claim is valid and therefore approved is determined exclusively through the standard review process of the insurance company AIG.” The UFC continued in a statement to MMAWeekly.

It appears that Ortiz’ claim came following his last bout in the UFC at UFC 84 against Lyoto Machida, a fight in which Ortiz lost via unanimous decision.
