Torn Meniscus Will Keep Cote Out for Up to 8 Months
Torn Meniscus Will Keep Cote Out for Up to 8 MonthsSportsnet is reporting that Patrick Cote has torn the meniscus ligament in his right knee. According to the report, Cote had told his corner in between the second and third round that he thought that his knee was “done”, but that he’d try continue anyways.

Stephane Patry, Cote’s manager, said that Cote had injured the knee a year ago and had reaggravated the injury only four weeks ago. Cote had considered bowing out of his title match but after listening to his doctor’s advice of cortisone shot, he was cleared to fight.

Cote is taking a brief vacation in Cancun, Mexico before having surgery on the injured knee. Cote is expected to be out of action for anywhere from 6-8 months which could leave Cote out of the title picture for good.
