Tito Ortiz nearing deal with EliteXC?
Tito Ortiz nearing deal with EliteXC?During Saturday’s broadcast of “Saturday Night Fights” on CBS, Karen Bryant asked former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz about the prospects of him joining the promotion. Ortiz responded by saying, “We’re working really close with Elite and I’d say we’re about maybe a week away from signing the deal.”

We’ve seen and heard this from Ortiz before. He was supposed to be announced at an Affliction press conference in Las Vegas but he no-showed.

Ortiz did recently have surgery on his lower back that will keep him out of action for the next 4-6 months, so even if a promotion can finally get Ortiz to sign on the dotted line, they’ll have to wait until he’s ready to fight.

A possible first fight for Ortiz with EliteXC would be a re-match against former UFC and Strikeforce champion in Frank Shamrock. Both Ortiz and Shamrock said during last night’s telecast that they would love to be able to face each other once again.
