WEC Fighter Jeff Curran Dropping Down To Bantamweight
WEC Fighter Jeff Curran Dropping Down To BantamweightWEC scrapper Jeff "Big Frog" Curran (30-10-1) has reportedly decided to drop down a weight-class to compete in the stacked bantamweight (135lbs.) division of the Zuffa-owned organization.

Curran is currently 1-2 in the WEC, with losses coming from Urijah Faber, and future Faber opponent Mike Brown. His lone win came via unanimous decision against Stephen Ledbetter back in August of '07 in his WEC debut.

The "Big Frog" is widely regarded as one of the top 10 featherweights in the world, but believes a shift downward in weight makes the most sense.

"I think that the fast pace and the real high technical level is a great fit for me," Says Curran. "The talent pool in that division is sick."

The talent pool he refers to is currently being ran by champion Miguel Torres, who is on many MMA fans top pound-for-pound list. Other standouts in the 135lb. division include Brian Bowles, Manny Tapia, and Yoshiro Maeda, who recently fought and lost against the champion Torres in one of the year's most exciting fights.

No word yet on an official debut for Curran at bantamweight, but keep it locked here on Fightline.com for all the latest updates on this story, and for all the current news coming from the world of MMA.
