* The UFC 98 Countdown show debuts on May 21st on Spike TV at 11 p.m. ET/PT. The replay will air before the event on May 23rd at 6 p.m. ET. The special will highlight both the Rashad Evans - Lyoto Machida light heavyweight championship fight, and the Matt Hughes - Matt Serra grudge match.
* Affliction VP Tom Atencio didn't mince words about Dana White ever fighting. As noted earlier this week, Atencio (1-0) will fight Randy Hedderick at the Ultimate Chaos PPV event on June 27th. During a press conference for the show yesterday, Atencio took a little jab at UFC president Dana White saying "I've been seen in front of the cameras before as far as the business side, but it's time to fight. I'm doing something Dana White won't do and that's fight. He talks like a fighter, so why doesn't he fight? I'm stepping up to the plate and win, lose or draw I attempted it. I don't ever think he would fight."
* UFC legend Don Frye (20-7-1 1 NC) won his first fight in nearly a year, when he submitted Rich Moss this past Saturday at Shark Fight 4 in Lubbock, Texas. Frye had last fought on August 16th, 2008, losing to Ikuhisa Minowa via submission with a kneebar.
* MMAWeekly is reporting that Jorge Gurgel will make his StrikeForce debut at the upcoming Strikeforce ShoMMA event on June 19th against Conor Heun, who will also be making his Strikeforce debut. Gurgel signed with Strikeforce shortly after being released from the UFC late last year after his loss to Aaron Riley at UFC 91: Couture vs. Lesnar.
