Chuck Liddell Talks "Dancing with the Stars"
Chuck Liddell Talks "Dancing with the Stars" UFC light heavyweight champ Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell has always displayed great footwork during his many Octagon battles, however his next opponent will test his fancy feet more than any other time during his illustrious career. As noted yesterday, "The Iceman" is getting ready to put on his dancing shoes and join fifteen other celebrities for the next season of ABC's Dancing With The Stars.

“They asked a couple different times, but it would be too much time to take off from training for fights,” Liddell told UFC.com. “Now I don’t have any fights coming up and I’m not training, so it’s something to do.”

The former face of the UFC has dropped four of his last fights, however does not seem to be interested in hanging up his MMA gloves just yet. Company president and long-time friend Dana White has already gone on record stating that Liddell should retire from combat fighting, and that might be why Liddell hasn’t been assigned another opponent since Mauricio “Shogun” Rua defeated him at UFC 97 this past April.

Whether we see Liddell fighting again remains to be seen. If anything, “DWTS” will buy the UFC Hall of Famer and the organization some time before they make a final decision on his future. In the meantime, Liddell knows that he is going to have his work out cut out for him, regardless of his status as a professional athlete.

“There’s a month up to when the show starts when I’m practicing, and I’ve been trying to get in a little bit of shape before I meet my partner,” said Liddell. “I don’t know who else is gonna be on there, so I don’t know how much of an edge that gives me or how that’s gonna translate, but I haven’t tried it yet, so we’ll see.

“When I talked to them after I agreed to do it, they said if you don’t have any background in dancing, just learn it when you get here. Don’t confuse yourself by starting with somebody and then having to come over and re-learn it.”

Although the challenge is a daunting one, Liddell is certainly up for it. Like a true competitor, regardless of the task at hand, he’s looking to be the best.

“I want to win,” Liddell stated in no uncertain terms. “I don’t like losing in anything, so I’ll work as hard as they’ll let me.”
