Dana White Not Interested In Making Five-Round Non-Title Fights
Dana White Not Interested In Making Five-Round Non-Title Fights Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira's unanimous decision victory over Randy Couture this past Saturday night at UFC 102 marked the fourth UFC pay-per-view in a row headlined by a non-title fight that has gone to a decision. Despite that fact, UFC President Dana White is not interested in allowing five-round non-title fights for main events.

"You know how many times I've been ringside and said, 'God, I wish this was a five-round fight,'" White asked after UFC 102. "Brock (Lesnar) and I were watching the [Couture - Nogueira] fight together, and we both said we wish that fight with Nogueira and Couture was five rounds.

Despite wishing that the Couture - Nogueira fight went another two rounds, White is content with his decision to only have championship bouts go five rounds.

"That's what's so special about fighting for the title," White noted. "You fight for the title, and it's a five-round fight, you don't, it's a three-round fight. So if everything could be five rounds, what's the point in having title fights at five rounds?"

The UFC returns to pay-per-view on September 19th with yet another non-title three-round main event as Vitor Belfort faces Rich Franklin at UFC 103 in Dallas, Texas.
