Shogun Talks About Moving To Heavyweight, Feels Machida Could Beat Lesnar
Shogun Talks About Moving To Heavyweight, Feels Machida Could Beat Lesnar Before Mauricio “Shogun” Rua has even had a chance to compete for the UFC light heavyweight championship on October 24th, he's already considering the possibility of moving up a weight class. Shogun recently stated that he would consider the move if the money were right.

“Depending on the money, I would fight at heavyweight division," Rua told Terra.com.br. "If I receive a good proposal and my moment is good and it is great for my personal marketing, I would have to give it consideration.”

After narrowly getting past an aging Mark Coleman at UFC 93, Rua knocked out former light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell at UFC 97 to put him back at the top of the light heavyweight division. Rua believes that his opponent at UFC 104, UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida, has a good chance of toppling the current UFC heavyweight champion.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Machida beats Brock [Lesnar]," Rua stated. "I think a light-heavyweight fighter can go up the weight class and take on a heavier guy like Lesnar. Lyoto would have real chances.”

UFC 104 takes place in Los Angeles, CA on October 24, 2009 and is headlined by Rua facing Machida for the UFC light heavyweight championship. The card also features a clash between heavyweights Ben Rothwell and Cain Velasquez.
