It appears that “The Natural” Randy Couture will be returning to the UFC’s light heavyweight division, as the former champion will reportedly face Brandon Vera in the main event at UFC 105. The show is slated to take place inside the MEN Arena in Manchester, England on November 14th.
UFC sources confirmed the bout with The Sun over the weekend after matchmaker Joe Silva offered the two the opportunity to headline the card.
The organization was left scrambling to find a box office featured bout for the card after they decided to move the lightweight title fight between 155-pound champion BJ Penn and Diego Sanchez to UFC 107. The UFC was looking to land the middleweight top contender bout between Dan Henderson and Nate Marquardt as the card’s final bout, however were unable to secure the match-up.
Couture is coming off of his second consecutive loss since returning to the Octagon after his bitter contract dispute with the UFC. He was most recently seen being dominated by Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 102 just last month.
