Slice actually dominated the stand up in the first round, as he landed a couple of good punches on Nelson after Nelson shot in on Slice. However, Nelson was able to score a takedown with a minute and a half left in the round, and caught Slice in the crucifix position. Nelson held Slice in that position for the remainder of the round, landing punches throughout, although the punches didn't do much damage.

Round two started with Kimbo swinging away and catching Nelson with several solid shots before eventually being taken to the ground again. From there, it was a replay of the end of the first round, as Nelson got Kimbo in the crucifix position and dropped unanswered punches to Slice's head before the fight was stopped.

After the fight, Nelson gloated and joked to Dana White at ringside, asking, “Can I get a Double Whopper with cheese?”

White was unimpressed, stating that Nelson "did just enough to win and not get hit."

White also offered some advice to Slice.

"He needs to use the rest of the time he's here to absorb as much knowledge as he can," White stated. "He will leave this a better fighter."
