Frank Mir Talks Anderson Silva, Nogueira & Rematch With Brock Lesnar
Frank Mir Talks Anderson Silva, Nogueira & Rematch With Brock Lesnar Just months after his high profile loss to UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar at UFC 100, Frank Mir is ready for redemption. The 30-year old is looking to redeem himself at UFC 107 against Cheick Kongo, and then, he says, move onto bigger and better things. Mir has openly expressed interest in taking on UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

"I'm extremely interested in the fight," Mir said at Friday's post-WEC 43 weigh-in Q&A session, transcribed by MMAJunkie.com.

"With Anderson, obviously he's a great striker and he is pound-for-pound one of the best fighters in the world. But with my grappling, it would be a very bad night for him.”

Silva isn't the only opponent that Mir has his sights set on. He stated that he would be open to fighting Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira once again, although he admits that Nogueira probably wants the fight more than he does.

"I think Nogueira wants me more than I want him," Mir said. "I don't really feel like I need to fight him. But obviously, if that fight needs to be answered again, I'm more than happy to show Nogueira that he's the same fighter that Randy [Couture] fought."

Nogueira had suffered a one-sided defeat to Mir last December, however was suffering from a staph infection and knee injury in the weeks prior to the fight. Nogueira kept quiet about his injuries, and many felt that "Big Nog's" career may be reaching an end after the loss. Nogueira silenced a lot of those critics when he defeated Couture at UFC 102 via unanimous decision.

"Everybody said, 'Oh, Nogueira is so much sharper now that he fought Randy.'," he said. "I saw a 46-year-old man punch you in the face as many times as I punched you in the face.”

Mir once again stated that he would like a rematch against Lesnar.

"Obviously if I go out there and improve on the things I need to improve on, I'll get an opportunity to be locked in a cage with [Lesnar] again."

Before any of those fights can take place, Mir faces Cheick Kongo at UFC 107, taking place on December 12, 2009 from Memphis, Tennessee. Other bouts scheduled for the event include B.J. Penn defending his UFC lightweight championship against Diego Sanchez, and Kenny Florian facing Clay Guida.
