UFC 104 Results: Machida Retains Title With Controversial Victory Over Shogun UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida defeated challenger Mauricio "Shogun" Rua via a controversial unanimous decision at UFC 104: Machida vs. Shogun tonight, with all the judges scoring the fight 48-47. It was a decision that the crowd strongly disagreed with, and we here at FightLine.com had the fight scored 49-46 for Shogun.

After the bout, Machida refused to say whether or not he agreed with the decision, just noting that all three referees saw it that way.

Shogun noted that he trained hard for the fight and felt that he won, but the decision is out of his hands. Machida stated that he would be open for a rematch with Shogun at anytime.
