UFC 104: Machida vs. Shogun Judges Scorecards
UFC 104: Machida vs. Shogun Judges Scorecards After Lyoto Machida’s victory over Mauricio Rua on Saturday night, UFC President Dana White said, “there will be an immediate rematch.” Although the light heavyweight champ successfully defended his title at UFC 104, his unanimous decision doesn’t appear to be as UNANIMOUS as the judges thought.

For those that were wondering what fight the judges were watching, here’s a copy of their UFC 104 notes:

Marcos Rosales (Machida 48-47):

1st Round: Machida 10-9
2nd Round: Machida 10-9
3rd Round: Machida 10-9
4th Round: Rua 10-9
5th Round: Rua 10-9

Cecil Peoples (Machida 48-47):

1st Round: Machida 10-9
2nd Round: Machida 10-9
3rdRound: Machida 10-9
4th Round: Rua 10-9
5th Round: Rua 10-9

Nelson Hamilton (Machida 48-47):

1st Round: Rua 10-9
2nd Round: Machida 10-9
3rd Round: Machida 10-9
4th Round: Machida 10-9
5th Round: Rua 10-9

There’s no denying the rounds were close and very difficult to score. By the looks of it, only rounds two, three and five were viewed the same way by all three officials. No matter what anybody says, Machida still took the belt home with him and nothing is going to change that.

So regardless of what the thousands in attendance at the Staples Center in LA, CA witnessed, or what the millions saw at home, or what White says, Machida won the fight in the eyes of the three that he needed to impress the most, the judges.
