Vitor Belfort Wants More Fights Before Facing Anderson Silva
Vitor Belfort Wants More Fights Before Facing Anderson Silva Despite UFC President Dana White positioning Vitor Belfort to be the next challenger for the UFC middlweight championship held by Anderson Silva, Belfort feels that he is not yet ready for it. Belfort recently told Tatame.com that he would like a few more fights before stepping in the cage with Silva.

"This thing of fighting Anderson is something that I’ve never looked for," he explained."I care about him a lot, but started that thing of Dana White talks... I don’t care about fighting for the title, I want to do some more fights. I don’t have this ambition of fighting him (Anderson) now, I didn’t get in UFC looking for it, to take his belt. I never had that thing, I just want to do my work."

Silva had recently expressed his discontent of Belfort’s willingness to fight him even though they once were training partners, saying, “Maybe he will want to fight Rodrigo or Rogerio, even though he is training with them. I think Vitor has to find himself, he is totally lost."

Belfort recently returned to the UFC after a four year absence in September and defeated Rich Franklin in the first round with a TKO. He was riding a four fight win streak prior to rejoining the UFC. Despite that, Belfort would like to wait before getting a shot at the belt.

"I know I deserve, that’s not the problem, neither the discussion, I just like to make some fights," he said. "The belt’s moment is gonna come, there are people that want to talk that I don’t deserve, but I don’t believe that. Anderson is not a guy that I want to fight, I support him a lot, we already trained together, I like him a lot. It’s not a thing that I want to... If the belt were on Nate Marquardt’s hands, if I could choose, I wouldn’t fight with Anderson because I care about him."
