Lyoto Machida Tweets His Good Bye
Lyoto Machida Tweets His Good Bye UFC light heavyweight champ Lyoto Machida doesn’t know what was more hectic, the treacherous training camp he endured for his first title defense at UFC 104, or the week since the bout where he was forced to justify his controversial unanimous decision win over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.

Either way, MMA’s 205-pound king desperately needs a vacation, but before he heads off for some R&R, he wanted to send one final message to the mixed martial arts world and to his fans via his Twitter account.

“I’d like to say that this fight was hard, Shogun is a tough guy. I know I won and I have no doubt. Whoever understands about fights [knows] it,” Machida tweeted on Sunday afternoon.

Although Machida believes he took a decisive victory inside the Octagon last week, UFC brass doesn’t and that’s why an immediate rematch is in the works. That’s all good with the champ as has already started the brainstorming process for his do-over with Shogun.

“… from now on we are [going] to prepare ourselves and study more to the revenge, so it will be no questions about it any more,” Machida added.

Most don’t believe he should have left the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA with UFC gold. Regardless, it’s time for “The Dragon” to soak up some sun with the family, and after that, it’s back to the lab to hone his MMA skills.

“Thanks for the great support from the fans,” Machida stated. “This week I’ll heading to Hawaii with my wife and son for some rest. I’ll be back to Belém soon..Good bye guys!”
