It appears that the WEC will have a unified lightweight champion on January 11th after champ Jaime Varner takes on interim title holder Ben Henderson at WEC 46 inside the Arco Arena in Sacramento, CA. Although the bout had been heavily rumored for quite some time, Varner just confirmed the scrap moments ago via his Twitter account.
“So the cat is officially out of the bag Jan 10 I’m defending my title in sacremento against Ben Henderson,” Varner posted Monday afternoon.
Former WEC featherweight champ Urijah Faber is also scheduled to participate in the event, as he to be facing Raphael Assuncao in the night’s co-main event.
